What is 1N4007? and What is This

  1. What is 1N4001?

What is 1N4001 means: 1N4001 series diodes are 1 Ampere current handling general purpose rectifier diode.

1N is stands for American standard semiconductor (Generic name) with ONE JUNCTION.

400X Series like 4001,4002 to 4007 is indicates the voltage, current and power rating of the diodes.

     1N= Means One Junction between P-type and N-Type.
         400= Means Serial number of the rectifier.
                1= Means Defines its (1 A) current rating.

DIODE1
The diodes are used to convert AC into DC these ares used as Half and Full wave rectifier.

When selecting to circuit take 3 points given below.

1. Reverse Voltage Capacity.
2. Forward Voltage Capacity.
3. Forward Current Capacity.

The Diode number 1N4001, 1N4002 to 1N4007 reverse voltage from 50V to 1000V and maximum forward current capacity of 1A.

Diode package Type:

Diode 1N400X Series are axial type D0-41 Plastic package.

HIGH CURRENT DIODES:

1N5400 series are used in high current circuits up to 3A.
Its is a axial type and large plastic package of DO-201 Type.
BEL made diode namely BY125 is equivalent of diode from 1N4001 TO 1N4003.

BY125 Means….

B = Silicon.
Y = Rectifier.
125 = Serial number.
BY126 is equivalent ot diodes 1N4004 TO 1N4006.

1NXXXX is a One junction diode family.

2NXXXX is a two junction Transistor family.

3NXXXX is a Three Junction FET family.
