MOC 3021 Circuit Working Principle

MOC 3021 Circuit

The MOC302X (MOC3020,MOC3021,MOC3022 are same) series are mainly coupled as a isolators consist of a infrared LED with light activated SCR.

DRIVE CAPACITY:

1. Off state output voltage = 400V.
2. RMS Forward current = 100mA.
3. Forward Peak current =1A.
4. Max power =200W.
5. Easy interface with ac 230v.

WORKING:

The MOC3021 was designed for interfacing between electronic controls and high power TRIAC to control loads for (AC Votage) operations.
A small pulse (Clock pulse with 5 V range) is applied to its input that is pin 1 and pin 2.
The light produced by this LED activates the TRIAC and that time power is switched ON.
Mainly it is used to maintain isolation between low power circuit to high power circuits (that is a 5v pulse controls 3 phase load volts).
