Experiment: Gate triggering of SCR with various gate currents.

Aim: To simulate Gate triggering of SCR with various gate currents.

Material required:
1. MULTISIM Software Loaded PC 1 No.
2. Printer 1 No.

3. Design Circuit.

5. Output Waveform.

The term SCR stands for silicon controlled rectifier which is one of the most important members of the thyristor family. It is more popular than the other Thyristors like TRIAC, SCS, DIAC, etc. that some people even use the words Thyristor and SCR interchangeably. So next time when someone says just “Thyristor” in general, then they are referring to the SCR.


Simulation Procedure:
• Open MULTISIM Software.
• Click=> New => Design1.
• Click save as in Desk Top rename the Design1 to your circuit name.
• Go to Component tool bar and select the components.
• Draw the circuit diagram of Gate triggering of SCR.
• Connect the CRO above mentioned circuit.
• Click simulate button or press F5 key => RUN.
• Note down the Time period and calculate the frequencies.
• Record the output waveforms.
The Gate triggering of SCR is designed and its output is verified using MULTISIM software, measured wave waveforms.
